Sensational Spa Drama: Stunning GT3 Revival Battles End in a Thrilling Showdown

The second round of the new GT3 Revival Series took place at the legendary Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps during the Spa Classic weekend. The championship, created through a partnership between SRO Motorsports Group and Peter Auto, attracted a strong field of 44 cars. Warm temperatures and sunny skies provided excellent racing conditions throughout the event.

Race 1 Ends Early After Heavy Accidents

Saturday evening’s race began under fading light. Two Aston Martins from Scott Sport and GDM Motorsport quickly established themselves at the front.

After eight laps, the race was stopped by a red flag. Two Audi R8 LMS Ultra cars suffered separate accidents at Pouhon and Blanchimont. Barrier repairs required significant work. Officials were unable to resume the race before the time limit expired.

The interruption created additional complications. The mandatory pit window never opened. Teams could not perform driver changes. Outstanding penalties from the season opener at Paul Ricard were converted into time penalties.

This heavily impacted Jonathan Mitchell. He crossed the line first on track but dropped to fourth overall after penalties. Despite this setback, he still secured victory in the AM Gen II class.

The overall win went to Guillaume Dumarey. Second place was claimed by Andrew Bentley and Maxwell Lynn in their Nissan GT R. Third place went to Phillip Kadoorie and Rob Huff in the Mercedes Benz SLS.

Thrilling Finish Decides Race 2

Sunday’s race featured another exciting contest. Jim Pla secured pole position in his Ferrari 458.

The opening lap produced one of the highlights of the weekend. Three cars ran side by side along the Kemmel Straight. Rob Huff was among the drivers involved in the spectacular battle.

An early Safety Car interrupted the action. Almost the entire field took advantage of the neutralization to complete their pit stops.

The fight for victory intensified during the closing stages. Jim Pla and Andrew Bentley battled fiercely for the lead. Traffic played a key role as both drivers encountered slower cars.

Pla managed to gain a small advantage while navigating through traffic. Bentley responded quickly and closed the gap again. The outcome remained uncertain until the final meters.

At the finish, Pla held on to win by just 0.244 seconds. Bentley finished a close second after a superb drive. Jonathan Mitchell completed the podium in third place. His recovery was particularly impressive after restarting in seventh following the Safety Car period.
