TCR Europe: Breakthrough Victory and Late Drama in the Ardennes

The opening race delivered high drama and a memorable breakthrough moment. Santiago Concepcion secured his first career victory after a race shaped by both pace and misfortune. Team AIKOA showed impressive performance, placing both of its Audis on the podium. Alex Ley had started from pole position, setting a new lap record and controlling the race through its first half. His challenge came to an abrupt halt when a front left issue forced him to relinquish the lead.

Junesung Park inherited the top position and appeared on course for victory, but the race took another twist in the closing stages. On the final lap, Park suffered the same front left problem, denying him a near-certain win. Concepcion capitalized on the opportunity to claim victory, while Felipe Fernández finished second, preventing a complete Audi lockout at the front.

Race two unfolded under different conditions, with a slightly damp track in the early morning. The contest was calmer, though no less competitive. Starting from seventh on the grid, Junesung Park delivered a composed and determined drive. By lap four of ten, he made a decisive move on Leonel Pernía at Le Combes, taking the lead with confidence.

From there, Park controlled the race and steadily built a gap, ultimately crossing the finish line 2.8 seconds clear of the field. Sergio Lopez completed the podium, capping off a measured and disciplined race in contrast to the chaos of the opening event.
